Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings: Who Shoud I Start?

Just like we all expected, Kyren Williams, Brian Robinson, and Raheem Mostert are in the top five fantasy football running backs. Puka Nacua is a top five fantasy wide receiver. This season has already had a ton of chaos, and it is only Week 3. We lost Chubb, Dobbins, and Rodgers for the season already. These injuries have had ripple effects on the league. We have more injuries, and they will affect the Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings: Who Should I Start?

We have you covered, and you can check out all of our rankings on the website. These are my rankings on the FantasyPros ECR. I have highlighted some players that I am higher on than the expert consensus. Good luck this week, and if you want any advice this season, please reach out. The easiest way to find us is by joining our Patreon and joining our discord.

We are live every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on our SGPN Fantasy Football YouTube channel. There, you can get injury updates from our resident football doctor. The guys will keep you updated on the news and help you with those tough lineup decisions. Every week, it comes down to the wire for starts and sits. We have your back.

Starts of The Week

QB, Geno Smith – SEA vs. CAR

I am four spots above the current expert consensus rankings on Geno. Last week was a big confidence booster. Geno played well despite the offensive line concerns. Geno gets a great matchup against Carolina this week. The Panthers will be without Jaycee Horn for a little while, and their secondary is severely outmatched. Look for Seattle’s triplets to have a huge week for fantasy football.

QB, Jared Goff – DET vs. ATL

Jared Goff is on fire this year, making plays with Josh Reynolds and Khalif Raymond. Goff doesn’t have the best set of weapons in the league, but he has not missed a beat. Last week, David Montgomery left the game, and the team opened things up. He could miss this game or be limited. We expect to see more Jahmyr Gibbs. Goff gets to play against an Atlanta defense that just allowed three passing touchdowns to Jordan Love.

RB, Joshua Kelley – LAC @ MIN

Last week was a very tough matchup against Tennesee. I can understand shying away from Kelley. Minnesota just allowed D’Andre Swift to have a career game on the ground. The Vikings invited Philadelphia to run the ball as they focused on stopping the passing game. They will do the same against Justin Herbert and this high-flying receiving room. If Ekeler doesn’t play, he could be an RB1. Even if Ekeler plays, he could be a top-24 player.

RB, Jahmyr Gibbs – DET vs. ATL

David Montgomery was helped off the field, and it looked like a really bad injury. It is a thigh bruise, and he could potentially play this week. He could also play and be limited. All signs point to increased usage for Jahmyr Gibbs. Gibbs saw his snap counts double last week, and he saw his opportunities increase as well. Most notably, he had nine targets, and he caught seven of them. This Gibbs vs. Bijan matchup is going to be a lot of fun!

WR, Christian Kirk – JAX vs. HOU

I was wrong last week, and Christian Kirk made me eat my words. Last week, he reminded us how good of a player he is. Kirk is a man-beater, and he ended up leading the team in targets in Week 2. Zay Jones and Calvin Ridley are both banged up. Christian Kirk is back in play this week. If Jones or Ridley are out, he will end up even higher in my rankings.

WR, Jakobi Meyers – LV vs. PIT

Meyers was on fire to start the season and, unfortunately, was concussed. He is trending toward returning, and Davante Adams is now in Concussion Protocol. I am currently 22 spots higher than the consensus on Meyers. It was nice seeing him score touchdowns in this offense and his target share. McDaniels obviously is a big fan and has big plays for Meyers. The offense looked much better with him in it.

TE, Taysom Hill – NO @ GB

I have Taysom Hill nine spots higher than the consensus, and I am starting him in a few lineups this week. We saw him carry the ball nine times for 75 yards after Jamaal Williams was hurt last week. Hill also offers the ability to pass the ball or get targets in the passing game. His versatility brings upside that other players just don’t have. The Saints are without Kamara, Williams, and possibly Kendre Miller. This is going to be a Taysom Hill game!

Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young has been a turnover machine, and the offensive line has struggled to protect him. Even if Young doesn’t play, the Seahawks will get Andy Dalton. This team doesn’t have a lot of weapons and a bad offensive line. Seattle and other defenses will continue to score fantasy points against them. Seattle had a big Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. I have them higher than the consensus and have them a defensive streaming option for Week 3.

Sits of The Week

QB, Justin Fields – CHI @ KC

I am three spots lower on Justin Fields than the current expert consensus rankings. Fields appears to have a safe floor and massive upside. Unfortunately, we have not seen the upside yet this year. He has 23 fantasy points combined. The offensive line is still a problem, and his passing game is still a problem. Fields is averaging 214 yards and one passing touchdown a game. Turnovers are another reason I am lower on him this week.

QB, Deshaun Watson – CLE vs TEN

Nick Chubb going down doesn’t just affect the running game. He was the engine of this offense. Watson continues to look rusty, and now, without Chubb, I have my concerns. Watson has not shown his rushing ability much since joining Cleveland. He has not really flashed his passing ability, either. I am three spots lower than the consensus this week, and he needs to earn his way back to my starting lineup.

RB, A.J. Dillon, GB vs. NO

The Saints have notoriously been a stingy run defense, and Aaron Jones could end up playing this week. Even if Jones plays, I am out on A.J. Dillon. New Orleans has allowed 20 or fewer points in ten straight games, and the touchdown upside is just not there. Last week was Dillon’s time to shine, and he turned it into a whopping 7.3 fantasy points. He is in running back three territory for me this week.

RB, D’Andre Swift, PHI @ TB

If you have better options, you should consider benching D’Andre Swift. Minnesota was a perfect storm for Swift with usage and the matchup. Reports today from Coach Sirianni were that the team could have all three of their starting running backs back. He also previously said that Swift’s role will change every week. In Week 1, he had three carries and was not involved in the passing game. Tampa is a tough matchup, and this backfield is a mess.

WR, Jahan Dotson, WAS vs. BUF

Terry McLaurin came into the season banged up, and the team has had two soft matchups. I expected a lot more from Dotson in those first weeks. He is currently WR67 and is only averaging about five yards per target. Dotson is a good player, and things should get better. But he should be on your bench until he shows you that he is capable of being counted on. Without bye weeks, we have plenty of good options at wide receiver.

WR, Marquise Brown, AZ vs. DAL

The Dallas Cowboys’ defense is on fire right now, and the Arizona Cardinals are really outmatched. I would not be surprised if the Dallas defense outscored the Cardinals’ offense in this one. Brown has not been getting deep targets, and he doesn’t get red zone targets. Dallas is number one, with only 12.2 points per game being allowed to wide receivers. Brown is a wide receiver three or a deep flex option for me this week.

TE, Cole Kmet – CHI @ KC

Chicago is a mess right now, and they have had a busy week in the media. Their defensive coordinator abruptly resigned, and this team looks out of sorts. Unless the tight end is getting 10 targets, you need him to get red zone targets. There are not a lot of those to go around in Chicago, and Kmet is averaging 4.5 receptions and 40 yards per game. I would play Taysom Hill over him this week. He is outside of my top 20 this week.

Denver Broncos @ Miami Dolphins

The Broncos’ defense has been one thing we have been able to count on from Denver during these dark years. You just can’t think about playing them against this Miami Dolphins offense. Their own offense doesn’t really do them many favors, but Miami is really good. Tua is playing great, and that team is hitting on all cylinders. Denver looks better this year, but they are still 0-2. They allowed the Commanders to put up 35. Miami might hit 50.
