College Basketball Picks December 11th
Northern Colorado vs Texas A&M-Commerce (+1) (O/U 145)
Northern Colorado comes into this matchup, losing four of their last six games. Texas A&M Commerce looks to compound the issues for Northern Colorado in a revenge spot. Northern Colorado won this matchup a year ago, 80-77.
I’m focusing on a total that has been targeted by bettors already. The total opened at 143.5 and currently sits at 145. Both teams have good hit rates on soaring the total. Northern Colorado has gone over in 17 of their last 29 games.
The Bears are led by Junior Saint Thomas. The forward has scored double digits in six of the last games, including four double-doubles. The TXM-Commerce Lions can match the scoring with their duo of Jerome Brewer and Kalen Williams.
Backing the over in this early Monday tip as four starters are on the floor capable of dropping 20 points.
The Pick: Over 145
Mississippi Valley State vs Gonzaga (-40) (O/U 141.5)
Gonzaga was taken down on Saturday by the Washington Huskies and quickly turn around to take on Mississippi Valley State at home. The Bulldogs were led by double digits, and then the Huskies gritted out a second half on their home court to beat the 7th-ranked in-state rival Gonzaga.
There is a quick turnaround here, as mentioned, with the heavily favored Bulldogs—another game focusing on the total rather than the spread. Gonzaga will have to get right this game on both sides of the floor and especially keep out of foul trouble, which hampered the minutes of transfer forward Graham Ike, who played just 24 minutes in the loss.
Mississippi State will find it difficult to score, especially in the right spot for the Bulldogs. The visiting Delta Devils average just under 50 points per game, and it would be surprising to see them get there in this travel spot.
Expect the Bulldogs to handle business and give their bench an opportunity in the second half as they take on UConn later in the week. Initially, this was nothing more than a tune-up game, but expect increased defensive intensity coming off the Washington loss.
The Pick: Under 141.5
