Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 26
All Pick ‘Em Selections Record: 14-12
Perfect 3-0 Pick Em Entries: 1
Luis Gil Higher than 7 Strikeouts or Higher than 3.0 Walks
Luis Gil has quietly been one of the best pitchers in the American League in 2024. He’s one of the main reasons for the Yankees’ great start to the season. The 25-year-old is pitching in his first season since 2022 after suffering a torn UCL. Gil has an electric fastball, which is one of the most effective in baseball. Despite not pitching past the sixth inning in any of his starts, Gil has recorded at least 6 strikeouts each time.
At the same time, Gil can be extremely wild, walking at least 3 hitters in each start. On April 15, he walked 7 hitters in just 5.0 innings against the Blue Jays. In short, Gil has some of the nastiest stuff in baseball yet has major control issues.
You can go with strikeouts or walks here. I think both will hit, although if I had to pick one, I would pick walks.
Corbin Burnes Higher than 40.5 Fantasy Points
Offseason acquisition and pending free agent Corbin Burnes has looked dominant in white and orange with Baltimore. Burnes is 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA. On Friday, Burnes will face the Oakland Athletics at home, which is a good matchup for the right-hander.
Oakland strikes out the second most in baseball, which will bode well for Burnes’s nasty pitch arsenal. He has come off some shaky starts, so I think this is a good opportunity for Burnes to lock in.
Jose Ramirez Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
J-Ram has been on an absolute tear as of late. He has hit safely in five consecutive games, including a 3-4, 4 RBI, and HR performance on Thursday. On Friday, Ramirez will be facing a new Braves acquisition, Chris Sale. Ramirez is 8-27 in his career vs. Sale.
The switch hitter, Ramirez, hits better right-handed, which he will do Friday against Sale. I’m predicting J-Ram will keep it going with another big performance.
