Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – June 4

Adley Rutschman – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

How can you not be all over Adley Rutschman today? He’s riding a seven-game hit streak and has a hit in 10 of his last 11 games. To top that off, he has a phenomenal matchup today. Jose Berrios takes the hill and Rutschman has owned him over his career. They’ve faced each other 21 times and Rutschman has 12 hits and two walks (.632 batting average). On top of that, five of the 12 hits have been for extra bases, including three home runs. That comes out to a 1.211 slugging percentage head-to-head.

Dansby Swanson – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Speaking of batters with good head-to-heads today, Dansby Swanson loves Chris Flexen. The sample size is a touch smaller than Rutschman, but in 11 career at-bats, Swanson has seven hits against the White Sox’s righty. Three of those went for extra-base hits, which gives him an even 1.000 slugging against Flexen. When you also consider that the White Sox bullpen is not particularly noteworthy either, Swanson should have chances to pick it up late as well.

Mitch Spence – Higher than 0.5 First Inning Strikeouts

Mitch Spence isn’t exactly a household name, but he’s got a lot going for him on Tuesday. Firstly, facing the Mariners, who are dead last in strikeouts in the majors this season, won’t hurt. Secondly, his strikeout stuff has looked good early in games this year. He’s thrown the first inning three times on the year and has five strikeouts to go with it. That’s his best strikeout rate for any inning that he’s thrown this year.
