We are back, my friends. Conference Championship weekend is here, and we get it going with two Friday Night College Football picks. Everything you need to know about the Conference USA Championship and Pac-12 Championship is below. Let’s get to it.
Championship Weekend Friday Night College Football Picks
New Mexico State (56.5) at Liberty (-11)
Liberty gets the gift of playing host as two first-year C-USA teams matchup in the Championship Game. The Flames are undefeated in year one under Jamey Chadwell and show no signs of slowing down, as they are 11-point favorites in this one. Liberty hosted NM State in their first C-USA game ever in early September. They won that game 33-17. Since then, both of these teams have grown a lot.
The visitors are a much better team at this point in the season and are very confident that they can ruin The Flames’ perfect season. Earlier this season, NM State lost to UMass at home. Just two weeks ago, they defeated Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Coach Jerry Kill deserves a ton of credit for turning this team around.
Both of these teams possess offenses that can score in a blink and are led by dynamic QBs. New Mexico State knows they cannot stop this Liberty offense, so I believe they will ramp up the pace and try to win in a shootout. Points will be scored at ease here. Let’s play the over.
The Pick: Over 56.5
Oregon (-10) vs. Washington (O/U 65.5)
Vegas hosts the 2023 Pac-12 Championship, and boy do we have a spread that will turn some heads. Washington defeated Oregon earlier this season and is yet to lose a game. Why the hell are they double-digit underdogs!? Well, Washington has been on the right side of some very close games and truthfully looked a bit gassed the last few weeks. Oregon has hit a bit of a stride, and looks like they are ready for a playoff spot.
With all this being said, 10 points is too many. Washington knows every game leading up to this was a playoff game for them, and they had no choice but to gut out those wins. One more win, and they will be in… Do I think Washington gets this done? No. Do I think they have enough firepower left to stay within the number? Yes. Lay off the “sharp” side and take the points. Roll Huskies.
The Pick: Washington +10
