Underdog Fantasy plays are back as we take a stab at the round two board. It was a clean day one as Cam Young kept up his poor golf with a round of 76 on Thursday. He was not the only man we decided to fade. Denny McCarthy also had a bad day on the course. We attacked his birdie prop as it was set at 3.5. Denny made three birdies in round one, cashing the “less” option we went with. Let’s keep up the solid work. The tour has another very difficult test in round two. Scottie Scheffler Higher Than 69.5 Strokes
Scottie shot a business casual 67 in round one, but we are going to fade him in round two. I do not believe he will play poorly, but this course will only get tougher. There is no rain in the forecast, and the greens started to firm up in the afternoon.
Scottie will play tomorrow afternoon in the firmest conditions they will have seen yet. A 70 in round two is an amazing round, and that would cash the slip for us. I know it is scary, but fade Scottie Scheffler in your Underdog Fantasy Pick ‘Em entry for June 7th.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE HIGHER THAN 2.5 BOGEYS
Xander posted a solid round of four under in round one. His bogey-free 68 was highlighted by some very average ball striking anchored by the best putter in the field. Sadly for Xander, having the best putter in round one is only a death wish going forward.
From here, it can statistically only get worse. Xander was scrambling for his life in round one and making all the clutch par putts. I expect that to change in round two.
