College Baseball Picks For June 9th – NCAA Baseball Tournament
All College Baseball Bets Are To Win 1 Unit
9 PM ET Kentucky vs Oregon State
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Kentucky: TBA, Mason Moore JR RHP: 9-3, 5.02 ERA, 76 K, 45 BB, 84.1 IP
Oregon State: TBA, Jacob Kmatz JR RHP: 7-2, 3.29 ERA, 88 K, 20 BB, 82 IP
Because of the blowout in Game 1 (Kentucky 10, Oregon State 0), neither team utilized most of their best options from their bullpens. Add in quality starting pitchers and there are ingredients for an under. Plus, Kentucky Proud Park is one of the larger parks in the SEC. The place will play even bigger because of the 9 PM start time in the cool night air.
Mason Moore has been electric for Kentucky in the postseason during his career. Moore has not allowed a run in 20.1 NCAA Tournament innings. He has allowed just 10 hits and struck out 18. On the year, Moore has pitched to a 3.57 ERA at home. Oregon State’s weekend bullpen ERA is 3.86. The Wildcats could put up a couple of runs early, but I expect the OSU pen to limit the damage.
Oregon State fell apart at the seams last night. Mental and physical errors all over the field defensively. Officially, the Beavers made two errors, but it felt like there were four. If Game 1 could stay under 13.5 runs with bottom-tier bullpen arms and defensive mistakes, the total should be safe in a game in which both teams have plenty of quality arms to use.
The Bet: -115 Kentucky / Oregon State Under 13.5
2:30 PM ET -148 Clemson vs Florida +114
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Clemson: TBA, Aidan Knaak FR RHP: 5-1, 2.96 ERA, 103 K, 26 BB, 79 IP
Florida: Jac Caglianone JR LHP: 5-2, 4.57 ERA, 76 K, 46 BB, 67 IP
Even though Jac Caglianone is a household name, lately, he hasn’t been sharp. Caglianone has a 5.97 ERA in his last six starts and a 5.26 ERA on the road this season. Additionally, Florida’s bullpen hasn’t been very good this season. In Game 1, the Gators utilized their top two options from the pen (Brandon Neely and Fisher Jameson). Every pitcher remaining in UF’s arm barn all have ERAs over 6.00.
Aidan Knaak has been Clemson’s best starting pitcher all season long. The Tigers also have a deep bullpen with multiple reliable options remaining (Austin Gordon 4.46 ERA, Billy Barlow 4.34 ERA, Matthew Marchal 4.71 ERA). Matchup-wise, this is a really good spot for Clemson to extend the series to a 3rd game in front of their home crowd.
The Bet: -148 Clemson ML
